The purpose of this book is to introduce the reader to the acoustic wave concepts required for the design of a wide range of acoustic devices, and to discuss some of these devices in detail. My aim has been to describe a wide range of classical and more recently developed theoretical methods, such as perturbation and coupled wave theories, and to show how these concepts are applied to understanding the wide range of acoustic devices now being used in practical applications.
