Feed contamination with microbiological or toxicological agents can affect animal health, productivity and welfare. At the same time, feed safety is an essential prerequisite for human consumption. The editor and contributors aim to provide an introduction to the complex matter of animal feed contamination, highlight several subjects of recent concern and illustrate the harmonization of legislation and strategies put into place by the global feed industry on feed quality and safety.
