The whole of the Philippine archipelago has a long and colorful history & many a book, treatise has been written. If one wishes depth in understanding that illustrious past, it is readily available. Yet, the focus of this particular tome is to provide a modern view of a round trip of the islands from the perspective of foreign eyes. In fact the eyes of a stranger in an even stranger land. The intent is to chronicle my own very personal observations, as we make our tour of the country. Will try to provide a quite limited history of the places we had occasion to visit, I find it impossible to fathom the country without. As would be touring Vietnam and ignoring the war history.
