Biosecurity surveillance plays a vital role in protecting against the introduction andspread of unwanted plants and animals, which might otherwise damage ecosystemsand agriculture, and impact native biodiversity. Incorporating both the collection andanalysis of information, it works alongside and as a complement to quarantine, containmentand eradication measures.There is an urgent need for rigorous, accessible and relevant evidence-basedmethods for effective practice of biosecurity surveillance.
