In January, 1931 the Air Ministry had received from Secondo Campini (Bologna 1904-Milan 1980) a proposal for on a new powerplant which promised to offer aircraft very high speed and altitude. This resulted in an Italian manufactured jet propelled aircraft first flown on August 27, 1940 - the second jet aircraft to fly in history and the first to a fly long-distance flight. Even though only two examples were built, one of them in excellent condition survives as a testament to Italian aircraft and powerplant design, engineering and ingenuity. Made possible by the financial investment of Count Gianni Caproni, the CC.1 represented a technological leap forward by the Italian aeronautical industry. A must read for all fans of Italian aircraft. This high-quality series of monographs is exclusively devoted to Italian WW2 aircraft. The series is edited by Giorgio Apostolo, the best known and most respected Italian Aviation Historian and the author of several authoritative texts. The volumes contain text in both Italian and English and contain the history of each aircraft and a technical description of the planes. Each book is lavishly illustrated with drawings from original instruction manuals and never before seen photos. The technical drawings ( 6-views ) are provided in both 1/72 and 1/48 scales colour profiles, views and cockpit interiors are also provided.
