This book provides a comprehensive review of deep vein thrombosis. There are chapters on risk factors for DVT, post thrombotic syndrome and its management, vena cava malformation as a new etiological factor and thrombosis in the upper limbs. DVT is usually seen in patients undergoing major surgeries. The guidelines for thrombo-prophylaxis in orthopaedic patients, radical pelvic surgeries, laparoscopic operations and risks versus benefits in regions with a low prevalence of DVT are thoroughly addressed. Cancer and its treatment are recognized risk factors for VTE and extended prophylaxis in ambulatory cancer patients is reviewed.
