If you enjoy visual comedy in film and television, (and who doesn't?) you should buy and read this book. It is a long overdue look at physical comedy created since the introduction of sound. Great masters of the art such as Laurel and Hardy, Jacques Tati, Rowan Atkinson, Ernie Kovacs, Norman Wisdom, and many more, are given the attention they deserve. In my own research, I have read a great many books on comedy, and this is one of the more enjoyable and refreshing. Perhaps, if we are fortunate, Mr. Dutton will have the opportunity to create a revised and expanded edition. Or better yet, an entire second volume to explore even more comedians.
