The book contains a short description of Colombias geological evolution and present landscapes, followed by systematic descriptions of 17 geomorphosites, selected from scientific and aesthetic points of view. The large climatic and topographic diversity which characterises Colombia permits a broad variety of landscapes, including coastal features, mud volcanoes and desertic geoforms, snow covered peaks and active volcanoes, deeply incised canyons and forming subdesertic valleys and lake located up to 3000 m above sea level. The book reflects the intent to contribute to the knowledge of a country which has often been left apart from traditional touristic guides.
