Since then, interest in these long-overlooked arts has been growing steadily, and we felt it was time to update this reference, which serves as a practical tool for collectors, museum curators, researchers and dealers, all of whom are related through their common passion. Since the publication of the previous edition, several major events have taken place. Two venerable institutions, the Ethnology Laboratory of the musee de l'Homme and the Musee National des Arts Africains et Oceaniens, closed their doors in 2003. their collections of some 300,000 objects have joined those of the future Musee du Quai Branly, which is scheduled to open in 2006Directory of museums, societies, libraries, galleries, experts, and auctioneers.
