Movement Disorders—A clinical and therapeutic approach, is a short text book intended for young neurologist, neurosurgeon, psychiatrist, pediatricians and physicians. It is multi-authored book and most of the contributors have interest in or are practicing movement disorders in their day to day practice. It has 9 sections, 46 chapters, plenty of tables and illustrations. The book is also provided with a CD which contained about 30 short video-clips. In nine sections, the book presents basic chapters on approach, epidemiology, physiology and biochemistry of basal ganglia disorders, Parkinsonian disorders, dystonic disorders, movement disorders in pediatric and psychiatric practice, non dystonic and non-Parkinsonian movement disorders, electrophysiology of movement disorders, therapeutics of movement disorders including a dedicated chapter on botulinum toxin and miscellaneous groups. Some of the chapters, which have been usually described in brief in current general text books on adult, children and psychiatric subjects, have been elaborated in detail such as PANDAS, Dopa responsive dystonia and Wilson disease in this book. This book incorporates a chapter on alternative therapies in Parkinsonian disorders. Some of the chapters contain clinical description of the respective disorder and at the end, a clinical approach to the disease has been provided. There is paucity of books on movement disorders with clinical orientation. This book will fulfill the desire of learning movement disorders through clinical approach. Since this book contains the principle of therapeutic approach, this will be of immense benefit for the treating doctors.
