This collection is an attempt by a diverse range of authors to
reignite interest in C.I. Lewis’s work within the pragmatist
and analytic traditions. Although pragmatism has enjoyed a
renewed popularity in the past thirty years, some influential
pragmatists have been overlooked. C. I. Lewis is arguably the
most important of overlooked pragmatists and was highly
influential within his own time period. The volume assembles a
wide range of perspectives on the strengths and weaknesses of
Lewis’s contributions to metaphysics, epistemology, semantics,
philosophy of science, and ethics.
