The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives’ Progress Report on BrainResearch acknowledges each year the exciting advances in neurosciencethat are bridging the gap between basic research and clinicalresults. In the new format the report launches this year, a numberof “hot spots” are selected for coverage, providing the reader withan up-to-date view of recent advances and their significance in thecontext of basic and clinical knowledge. The report’s existence isthe result of a strong belief in the importance of spreading scientificknowledge. More important, the report aims to broaden the audiencefor such research. The rapid progress in brain science providescontinuous news about different aspects of brain function, whichmakes it difficult even for specialists to stay abreast of current findings.
