How can we characterise Cybersecurity? With what things, events, processes and human/machine actions is it concerned? How do data-breeches and system-intrusions happen—and why? What occurs when Cybersecurity really works effectively? And can we systemise it? Or will the clever Hacker always break into any networked device—sweeping all defences aside?

A host of other questions/unknowns arise. We wonder if Cybersecurity is a Science? And if not—will it ever become one? Can we identify any particularly valuable Cybersecurity: laws/ rules/mandates? Given the many data-breeches happening everyday on Corporate Networks—it appears that the sum total of all the recommendations and promises emanating from the Cybersecurity experts—does not amount to a hill-of-beans!

To find answers, we must now re-asses the entire field of Cybersecurity—and go back to basics. Our goal is to apply a rigorous scientific methodology to networked system design; enabling us all to enjoy socially secure communication (at last).

Accordingly, outlined here—for the first time—is an explanation of the fundamental theory and principal axioms of Cybersecurity —as developed from first principles—and in a format easily digestible by non-technical people.
