This Volume contains account of the invited lectures at the International Symposium on Algebraic Number Theory in Commemoration of the Centennary of the Birth of Professor Teiji TAKAGI held at the Research Institute of Mathematical Sciences (RIMS), the University of Kyoto, from March 22 through March 29, 1976. This Symposium was sponsored by the Taniguchi Foundation and the Japan Society for Promotion of Sciences and was cosponsored by the RIMS, the Mathematical Society of Japan and the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science of the University of Tokyo. It was attended by some 200 participants, among whom 20 from foreign countries.
