This manual of inorganic preparations grew out of a one-quarter lecture course in descriptive inorganic chemistry which the author gave for a number of years at Northwestern University. Laboratory work (three hours a week) was optional. The course, intended primarily or senior and junior undergraduates, was designed to give a more detailed account of inorganic chemistry than that of the freshman year and to prepare the student for an advanced graduate course in structural inorganic chemistry and valence theory.
