Impact engineering has been expanding its research scope mainly from the study of dynamic behavior of materials and structures and projectile impact into sports, human dynamics, processing of new materials and a variety of other fields. Therefore, it is quite meaningful for many researchers and scientists to exchange their knowledge with each other and to establish relationships for collaboration. A series of ISIE symposiums have provided seven opportunities since 1992 in various cities, Sendai, Beijing, Singapore, Kumamoto, Cambridge, Daejeon and Warsaw. The 8-th symposium will be held in Osaka in September 2013 and organized with a special focus on the new developments in experimental, theoretical and computational aspects of dynamic response of materials and structures. Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to: - Dynamic deformation and constitutive relations - Perforation and penetration - Dynamic failure and fracture - Structural crashworthiness - Dynamic biomechanics and sports dynamics - New testing techniques - Elastic/plastic wave propagation - Numerical simulations - Other topics involving impact loadings
